Print Release Stations
IT REALLY IS AS SIMPLE AS 1 - 2 - 3 !! Just like a vending machine!
Print Release Stations (kiosk stations) are necessary when campus card systems are present or when vending payment devices, such as card readers or coin/bill acceptors, are required for payment.
Print Release Stations greatly reduce paper waste. Since users are required to walk over to the unit to select and pay for their print jobs, then wait for them to print out, and finally pick them up, unwanted print jobs collecting in the printer tray or print jobs accidentally picked up by other users are eliminated.
Print jobs become more secure by preventing users from viewing other users' jobs and possibly taking them from the system tray. Advanced security login options can easily be enabled, requiring users to first login at the Print Release Station to identify and view only their own print jobs.
Print Release Station Process
Users submit print jobs from any network workstation or laptop. Print jobs are sent to a designated GoPrint print queue and forced in a paused state, awaiting release to the printer. Print jobs are redeemed at the Print Release Station. Typically Print Release Stations are physically displayed adjacent to the printer(s) that users are printing to, although a follow-me-anywhere printing approach can be acheived by allowing users to release print jobs to printers across campus.
Step 1 - Users simply touch their workstation or UserID button on the touchscreen to view their print jobs. Buttons may appear in the form of the machine name from which the job was sent or the username.
Scroll over the number button to view a larger image
Step 2 - Users review their print jobs and make any changes such as discarding unwanted jobs, then touch the print jobs status bar to confirm the final cost and to checkout. The status bar displays the date/time, printer name, document title, number of pages, copies, size, duplex, color, individual and total price.
Step 3 - Users insert/swipe their debit card or campus card into the
card reader or insert coins into a coin/bill acceptor. GoPrint reconfirms the print job and the cost, then debits the
card for the correct amount to pay for the print job. The print job is then
sent to the designated network printer where it is printed and collected by the user.
Step 4 - Debit card and campus card balances are recorded and displayed to the user under the Available Funds section.
User views Available funds, then once confirmed sends print jobs.
