Wireless Printing Overview
Web Client Popup
The GoPrint Web Client Popup consists of a small java process running on the end-user's workstation or laptop. The intent is to allow users to release print jobs from their workstation, provide password protection, and quota authentication. Payment parameters can be combined to use a print release station and/or the client popup separately, or in combination for double security.
No software is installed on the workstations. GoPrint was designed to be a true client-server application. The optional non-resident client popup is primarily controlled from the server.

Supporting Day Guests and Open Labs
In a public printing environment, such as public or college libraries, the Web Client Popup provides support for day guest users to successfully identify and secure their print jobs at a Print Release Station.
When combined with student logins, day guests are instructed to sign in by clicking the DAY GUEST
button.
The second screen displays their print job listing and prompts them to fill in the Release Code and Release User fields. The Release User is the name displayed at a Print Release Station Kiosk and the Release Code acts like a password to help secure print jobs.
Day Guest mode assumes all users are using a vending payment system requiring either a card swipe or coin dispenser device attached to a Print Release Station, and therefore requires all print jobs be sent to a Print Release Station for payment. Students, authenticating at the Web Client with their Student ID, may continue to release print jobs directly from their workstation.
Additional Highlights
The Web Client Popup interface, including all information prompts and buttons, is completely customizable to help fit easily into your environment.
Laptop users can download and install the Web Client Popup right onto the machine and login using their student ID or as a Guest to help them identify and secure their print job when networking restrictions prevent hostname and username resolution.
The Web Client Popup may optionally be launched directly from a web browser, without download and installation, allowing users to login and check print fund balances, transaction and print job history, as well as release print jobs.
The Web Client Popup runs off secure port 7773, ensuring all information is encrypted over the network and may be combined with secure LDAP connections in any campus environment.
